The Prestige (2006)
Genre - Drama, Fantasy, Mystery, Thriller
Cast - Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Scarlett Johansson
Whats It About - Robert and Alfred are rival magicians. When Alfred performs the ultimate magic trick, Robert tries desperately to find out the secret to the trick. Rival magicians in turn-of-the-century London battle each other for trade secrets. The rivalry is so intense that it turns them into murderers.
Why To Watch It - Apart from a stellar star cast and full of twists and turns, The Prestige is a dazzling period piece that never stops challenging the audience.
Bale and Jackman perfectly execute their roles, winding up the tension to an unbearable degree as they willfully enter into some dangerously competitive patterns of behavior.
Stylistically, THE PRESTIGE is full of dark, gloomy colors and a palpable feeling of menace, which is an impeccable visual match for the viewer's growing unease as the protagonists push each other to increasingly ridiculous lengths.
This was one film which i was waiting eagerly after seeing the trailer and trust me the final movie is far from disappointing or let down. Its simply brilliant and will keep you hooked thru out.
